Geraldine Flora Scruggs Goodman, long time resident of Dallas, Texas passed on May 14, 2012. Our Mother was born January 24, 1925 and grew to young womanhood in California. She was the second child of five children and the last of them to return to their Heavenly Home to be reunited with her parents, husband and other loved ones. Like many patriotic, young, single women, Geraldine worked in the California shipyards as a welder known as “Rosie Riveters” during WWII.

It was during this period of service to her country that she met her future husband, Walter Floyd Goodman Sr. After the war, they made their way across the U.S. eventually choosing to settle in the Dallas, Texas area where our father built a home and together they created a family of eleven children – ten girls and one boy! Walter Sr. passed in September, 1968 and thereafter, Geraldine courageously and resolutely set her will and determination to rear her children by herself, which she accomplished in an amazing way with the help of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Geraldine is preceded in death by two daughters, Carol Jensen and Elaine Warnes, and her only beloved son, Walter Goodman Jr. She is survived by her daughters; Laura Ellene Tynes, Sherril, Nancy, Marcia, Cathy, Barbara, Janie and Rebecca.

Geraldine loved and deeply cherished her twenty-seven grandchildren, fifty-seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. One of Geraldine’s passions included a love of nature, especially flowers. Her personal residence was a showcase of gorgeous flowers which responded to her loving care. Her other great passion was being able to trump all her sons-in-law in the game of Gin Rummy. Our feisty Mother was an influence for good upon our lives and will be deeply missed but not forgotten by her numerous posterity.

Sharon Lee Campbell
Resident of San Jose, CA

Born Sharon Lee Carrico in Washington D.C. on October 1st, 1940 and passed away suddenly in San Jose, CA on May 6th, 2012. She was a dedicated and dearly loved Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister and Grandmother.

Sharon was the beloved daughter of George Albert Carrico (dec.) and Catherine Elizabeth Carrico and cherished sister to Sandra Carrico Rowell of Elkridge, MD. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Jay Campbell, her children Wendy Maul (Jim), Stacey Napolitano (Carmine), John Campbell (Tammy), Paige Campbell and her 5 grandchildren Matthew, Michael, Rachael, Katie, and Mia.

Sharon grew up in Maryland, graduating from Northwestern High School in 1958. It was during her high school years that she found her love of baton twirling and dance which lead to a long and fulfilling career as a choreographer and baton coach. Sharon was the Director of the Brentwood Majorettes from high school age all the way through the time she and the family moved to California in 1973. She attended the University of Maryland where she was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega. Sharon and Jay also met during their time at college. Although they attended the same school, it was over the meat counter at Safeway that they really found true love.

Sharon coached competitive baton twirling Nationally and Internationally for over 55 years. She took true pride in teaching thousands of children all the aspects of baton but also many of life’s lessons too. To this day, her family gets encouraging words from the generations of families she’s influenced – that’s how much she influenced the families she worked with. She was best known locally as the Founder and Director of Valley Baton Club in Campbell, California for the past 32 years.

The Club has been honored by multiple City Councils throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, receiving 22 National Baton titles and several International Cup titles. Sharon was a judge and coach for both the National Baton Twirling Association and the US Twirling Association. She was proudly inducted into the National Twirling Hall of Fame in 2004.

We are incredibly grateful for all of the love, warm thoughts and prayers our friends and family have shared. Sharon would be proud to know that she had such loving people to take care of her family in such a difficult time. She spent so much of her time and energy with children that we feel she would want any donations in lieu of flowers to be sent to one of the following:

St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital

A memorial service will be held at a later date, to be determined by the family.

Gary Paul Kalisz was born on Saturday, October 29, 1960 to Stanley J & Donna Allan Kalisz in Lepeer, Michigan. the youngest of 3 children, Gary graduated from Imlay City High School Class of 1978, having played high school football. Gary then began his life long involvement with “car work” by working in his older brother Stan’s business at Van’s “R” US. Gary was so proud of his brother’s business.

In 1981, Gary moved to South Florida and began working for Econo Auto Body at the age of 21. During his 15 years with Econo, Gary was promoted from Assistant manager to Area Supervisor. In 1983 Gary was awarded the Manager of the Year Award; econo’s highest employee award.

In 1996, Gary opened his own business in Riviera beach, Florida: Precision Auto Painting & Collision Center, this is the year Gary met and fell in love with Deborah Gates. Together with both of them behind the wheel Precision continued to grow, and they also started an Auto detailing business and an Auto Transport business. March 21, 1998 Gary and Debbie celebrated the birth of their son Michael.

On October 11, 2005 Gary and Debbie were married in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, this made Gary officially DAD to Debbie’s older son, Jonathan. after Gary suffered a serious accident in 2005, Precision Auto was closed in May of 2006 so Gary could recuperate from major spinal surgery. Gary continued working in the field of Paint & Body with various company’s. In September 2011, Gary found a family run business which he considered his new second home, in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

In Gary’s leisure, he loved to be outdoors; doing yard work, on the water in his Open Fisherman or on the road in his “RED” Big Dog Motorcycle. A sports fan, Gary loved to go to NASCAR races around the country with Debbie and his son’s. Gary cheered on the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Pistons and Red Wings. He enjoyed restoring “treasures” and entering car shows, Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his beloved family, in the evenings playing catch with Michael or tinkering on car projects with his son’s Jonathan and Michael.

In November 22, 2011 Gary faced his greatest challenge with Michael’s diagnosis of cancer, the family walked Michael through many procedures and received support from the NHL Florida Panthers and Duffy’s. Gary had such appreciation for their support he was torn between routing for his beloved Red Wings or his new hero’s the NHL Florida Panthers. Gary had a new appreciation and love for his family as they enjoyed New England vacations, trips to Orlando and Florida Panther hockey games.

Gary’s life ended, Friday April 20th, 2012 after suffering a heart attack in his sleep. Gary leaves behind his Devoted and Loving wife, Debbie and their two son’s Jonathan and Michael, whom Gary deeply and dearly loved. He is also survived by his birth mother, Brother Stanley Kalisz, ex sister-in-law Cheryl Kalisz and their 3 children; Adam, Alan and Aimee, and cousins. Gary will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband and DAD, a faithful employee, and a lover of life.

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,
we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…”
