Crispino Cruz Peñafuerte, 83 a World War II veteran who was originally from the Philippines, has passed away early today, Monday, August 16, in San Diego, California, the family has announced.
Peñafuerte had been one of the staunchest advocates and supporters of a bill granting equity rights to Filipino veterans who had fought with the United States during the Second World War.
Pino, as he was fondly called, worked at Philippine Airlines for 35 years prior to immigrating to the United States.
He is survived by wife Maura Ocampo Peñafuerte, daughter Ana Ma. Cristina (Ronaldo) Peñafuerte-Nery, grandchildren Luis, Bianca, Joey, son Christopher (Irene) Peñafuerte, grandchildren Daniel, Tristan Mauro and son Christian Anthony (Marlene) Peñafuerte.
