Kimberly Richardson
Regstered Nurse N.I.C.U.
Wife, Mother, Daughter, R.N. Angel Kimberly Richardson passed away on the morning of April 25th, 2009. Resting comfortably in the privacy of her Huntington Beach home, Kim passed gracefully with her husband Jim at her side. Born on November 8th, 1961 to Vincie and Don Jaekel, Kim was full of life. Kim was the sister amongst three brothers; Allen, Mark, and Steve. Kim met the love of her life, Jim, during high school. Jim and Kim have been married for 27 years and have two amazing children, Greg 25 and Katie 22. With crystal blue eyes, sandy blonde hair and a cheerful smile children and adults alike trusted her with out reservation. It was only natural for her to become a nurse.
A graduate of the L.B.C.C. nursing program in 1983, Kim worked as a Registered Nurse for 22 years. Kim’s passion was her work, working in the N.I.C.U. pediatric and P.I.C.U. areas of several hospitals in both Long Beach and Orange County. In 2005 she was voted,” Nurse of the Year”, by her employer Pro-Care One. Kim embodied everything a mother, wife and nurse could ever be. She was beautiful, intelligent, nurturing, joyful, lively, caring, loving, compassionate, giving, strong, ambitious and most importantly brave. Kim has been a fearless warrior since 1996 with her fight against Stage Four Metastatic Melanoma.
She rarely allowed the disease to slow her down. Even with having several tumor removal suguries and a constant regiment of treatments her life was very fulfilling. Her healthy glow and cheerful smile fooled us all and many people didn’t realize how ill she was. The eternal team mom Kim was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader and cookie mom. She loved traveling to exotic locations on numerous family and scouting vacations, spending time at the beach watching her husband and kids surf or to the lake for wakeboarding on the boat, attending her children’s sporting events, watching her children become young adults and enjoying the company of all her loved ones surrounding her. Even in the end she gave, donating her remains to Body Worlds for medical and public study.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Services for Kim will be held on Saturday May 16 at 2:00 P.M. with a reception directly after at the Bethany Church, 2250 Clark, Long Beach CA. The church is at the corner of Clark and Los Coyotes.
