Emma C Ortiz, 69, of Denver Co. She went home to our Lord on Mother Day‘s of 2009. Rosary will be held at 7p.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Church, 219 W. Pine St., Rawlins WY, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00a.m Saturday. Interment will be in the Rawlins Cemetery. Emma is survived by her three sons daughter, John Ortiz, Jake Ortiz, Rudy Junior Ortiz, Suzette Sample.
She had six grand children, Fanelia Ortiz, Elias Ortiz, Mystique Ortiz, Lauren Ortiz, Dominique Ortiz, and Samuel Ortiz. She was great grandma to Adrian Ortiz and Angel Kenyon. She is also survived by four brothers Charlie, Ernie ,Leo, Arthur, and six sisters Rose, Lori, Vie, Shirley, Patsy, Eva, and many nieces and nephews. Emma was born to Ralph and Mary Montoya on June 27, 1940. Emma is a beloved mother, grandmother, and she loved all the family children. She was the 2nd oldest sister in her family of 17 children. She moved from Rawlins to Denver to raise her 3 sons and be close to 2nd mom Elise.
There was never a short time she wasn’t in Rawlins visiting her mom Mary Montoya. She never came to Rawlins empty handed, she always made sure she brought food and other items a family member may need. Emma was especially known for her Green Chile and Potatoes. Her famous Chile recently won her the best “Chile Contest” of all her fellow co-workers. She loved having family gathers at her home in Thornton Co. There was never a week that neither sons or grandchildren didn’t stop by have breakfast or dinner. She never let them out of her sight.
Whenever one of them would leave she would follow them out the door stopping them one more time just to say goodbye again. She a strong and dedicated woman to her family and friends. She was proud of her accomplishments and seen her dreams come to pass in her last days. Her heart and home were always open to anyone and everyone. She will be dearly missed by all. Emma is proceeded in Death by her Mom and Dad and 3 brothers and 1 sister and nephew and cousins. Pall bears will be John Oritz, Jake Ortiz, Rudy Junior Ortiz, Elias Ortiz, Arthur Montoya, and John Sanchez. Honoree Pall bears will be Samuel Ortiz and Marcos Martinez.
